Fifteen foreigners injured in road accident

A bus carrying tourists in northern Vietnam had an accident Friday, injuring 15 foreigners and two Vietnamese.

At about 5:40 p.m, a bus carrying 44 people including 42 foreigners collided with a seven-seater car and a motorbike in Tong Dau commune, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province, and flipped sideways.

Residents and functional forces used specialized tools to break the bus window and rescue the passengers. Twenty people were injured, including 15 foreigners and two Vietnamese on the bus and three people in the seven-seater.

Mai Chau district police told local media that nine victims had been transferred to Viet Duc Hospital in neighboring Hanoi, and the rest to the Mai Chau district Hospital.

The foreign group included people of many nationalities like Italians, Ukrainians, and Filipinos.

At the scene, the bus was lying on the side of the road. About 10 meters away, the seven-seater car was deformed, while the motorbike stood damaged nearby. Debris from the vehicles was scattered on the road.

Initial findings showed that the bus had gone downhill into a curve, unable to control its speed.
