Four industrial parks in northern province added to national plan
Four industrial parks in the northern province of Ha Nam have been added to the national plan for industrial park development under a decision signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai on Friday.
The four are the 250-hectare Dong Van V, 250-hectare Dong Van VI, 230-hectare Kim Bang I, and 210-hectare Chau Giang I in Duy Tien township and Kim Bang district.
Infrastructure development in these parks should focus on projects involving high technology, supporting industries, innovation and creativity, the decision reads.
The projects should also be eco-friendly and not labor- or resource-intensive. The conversion of agricultural land for the four industrial parks must meet Ha Nam province’s quota for land conversion.
The northern province is now home to eight industrial parks covering 2,500 hectares, according to the Ha Nam industrial parks authority. With an occupation rate of 80%, industrial parks in Ha Nam are home to 427 businesses with 86,005 workers.
According to Ha Nam’s draft plan for 2021-2030, with vision until 2050, the province wants to establish 14 more industrial parks covering 3,500 hectares.
Towards 2030, Ha Nam will focus on attracting investors in sectors such as automobiles, electronics, information technology, deep-processing of farm produce, and supporting industries, said Tran Van Kien, head of the Ha Nam industrial parks authority.
In 2022, the authority granted investment certificates to 44 projects with registered capital of $161.74 million and VND5,834 billion ($248.79 million); and permitted capital hikes of $560.38 million and VND8,367 billion ($356.78 million) for existing projects.
As of end-2022, industrial parks in Ha Nam housed 527 projects, including 314 FDI ventures and 213 domestic projects, with total registered capital of $4.84 billion and VND41,674 billion ($1.78 billion), respectively.
Ha Nam’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) grew 10.82% in 2022, according to the provincial statistics office. The industry and construction sector was the key driving force with growth of 12.96%, accounting for 8.52 percentage points of total growth. The manufacturing and processing industry grew 14.21%, contributing 7.5 percentage points to the total.
