Ngoc Linh ginseng positioned as key driver for medicinal materials hub in central Vietnam province
The Vietnamese government has approved a project to establish a medicinal materials industry hub in the central province of Quang Nam, with Ngoc Linh ginseng as a primary crop.
Under a decision signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long on Friday, the project aims to develop a comprehensive system encompassing raw material production, medicinal herb cultivation, processing, manufacturing, business operations, and scientific research.

This initiative seeks to gradually transform Quang Nam into the country’s leading hub for medicinal herbs.
The project also focuses on maximizing the potential of “national treasure” Ngoc Linh ginseng and other medicinal herbs, thus elevating Vietnam’s medicinal herb sector into a high-value industry.
In 2025-2035, the project plans to set up and strengthen a value chain that integrates seed production, cultivation, processing, manufacturing, and distribution of medicinal herb products in line with the World Health Organization’s guidelines for good agricultural and collection practices.
By 2030, it targets the completion of land-use planning and infrastructure development for the medicinal materials industry hub within Quang Nam’s industrial parks, with an initial focus on the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone.
In 2036-2045, Vietnam will diversify medicinal products, particularly Ngoc Linh ginseng-based ones, to meet both domestic and global demand.
