T&T Group pushes ahead with airport, LNG power, urban area projects in central Vietnam
T&T Group is accelerating several major infrastructure, energy and urban area development projects in Vietnam’s central province of Quang Tri, as the conglomerate expands its investment footprint in the region.
A delegation led by founder and chairman Do Quang Hien met provincial authorities on Thursday to review the progress of key projects and discuss solutions to address bottlenecks slowing implementation.

According to T&T representatives, the group is currently implementing or studying a series of large-scale investments in the province, focusing on transport infrastructure, energy, urban area development and services to support local economic growth.
One of the centerpiece projects is Quang Tri airport. As of March 2026, overall construction progress has exceeded 50%. The aircraft apron has been completed, the runway is about 46% finished, the passenger terminal has reached roughly 49% completion, and the air traffic control tower is around 46% complete.

Alongside construction, T&T is installing aviation safety equipment and preparing operational systems for the airport. The group is also establishing the operational management structure, finalizing aviation safety and security procedures, and working with airlines to open routes once the airport begins operations.
Building on the airport project, the group has proposed developing a broader aerospace and free trade complex around the site. The plan includes an aerospace industrial zone, a science and innovation urban area, and an airport city spanning the communes of Gio Linh, Cua Viet, Con Tien, and Ben Hai.
The proposed complex would host aerospace and high-tech industrial zones, airport-linked urban developments, golf courses, commercial and service areas, theme parks as well as logistics and support facilities.
T&T is working with CPG Corporation to develop a master plan and is coordinating with provincial authorities to integrate the project into regional development strategies.
In the energy sector, the corporation is advancing several projects in Quang Tri. The most prominent is the first phase of the Hai Lang LNG Power Center phase 1 located in the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone.
The project has a planned capacity of 1,500 megawatts and a total investment of about VND59 trillion ($2.24 billion). It has completed key regulatory steps, including inclusion in Vietnam’s national power development plan, approval of revised investment policy, approval of the 1/500 detailed master plan, and appraisal of the feasibility study.
Project stakeholders are currently negotiating power purchase agreements and preparing for the next stage of implementation. Land clearance and financial close are expected by Q4/2026, with construction scheduled to begin in Q1/2027 and commercial operations targeted for Q4/2029.
T&T is also studying additional energy investments, including another 1,500-megawatt LNG power project in Quang Tri converted from a planned coal-fired plant, as well as a 50-megawatt biomass power plant in neighboring Quang Binh province.
Between 2026 and 2030, the group aims to develop about 1,000 megawatts of wind power and 500 megawatts of solar power, while proposing the addition of roughly 1,500 megawatts of renewable energy projects to Vietnam’s national power development plan.
Alongside energy investments, T&T is developing tourism and urban projects in the province, including the VND3.69 trillion ($140.3 million) Gio Hai service and tourism complex, covering about 13.45 hectares.
Infrastructure development at the project has reached about 90% completion, with several components, including shophouses, resort villas, and service facilities, nearing completion. Major components are expected to be finished in Q3-Q4/2026.
The group is also studying a large tourism and golf urban complex in the former Cam Lo district covering about 378.9 hectares with an estimated investment of VND20 trillion ($760.6 million), as well as the eastern Dong Ha urban project spanning roughly 49 hectares with a planned investment of around VND10 trillion ($380 million).
During the meeting, the company highlighted several challenges affecting project progress, particularly land clearance for Quang Tri airport, where about 25.9 hectares have yet to be handed over to the investor.
T&T asked provincial authorities to accelerate site clearance and complete the remaining land handover by March 2026, while also upgrading transport infrastructure connections and integrating key projects into local planning frameworks.
Le Hong Vinh, Chairman of the Quang Tri People’s Committee, instructed local agencies to work closely with the investor to resolve obstacles, expedite land clearance for the airport project, and strengthen communication with residents to build public support.
Provincial authorities will also review T&T Group’s proposals for new investment projects to ensure they align with regional planning and development strategies, while encouraging closer coordination between the company and government agencies during project planning and implementation.
