Le Thanh Hung, general director of Vietnam Rubber Industry Group, listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange as VRG, has been elected chairman of the Vietnam Rubber Association (VRA).

Hung was elected to lead the VRA for its sixth term – 2023-2028 – at the 2024 meeting of the executive board and inspection board of the VRA on Monday in Ho Chi Minh City, along with the management board of Vietnam Rubber Export Insurance Fund.

The meeting also elected Truong Minh Trung, deputy general director of VRG and Huynh Van Bao, a member of the VRA executive board, as vice chairmen for the same term.

Hung was also elected chairman of the management board of Vietnam Rubber Export Insurance Fund.

At the meeting, he emphasized the importance of considering rubberwood and rubber latex as key products, saying he would step up efforts to promote their consumption.

He added that the VRA will focus on guiding its members in implementing the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

Founded in 2004, the VRA aims to foster sustainable development of the rubber industry. In the final quarter of 2024, the association plans to propose policy solutions, enhance promotional activities and strengthen connections with ministries, branches and international organizations.

It will continue to provide information and guidance on sustainable development programs and carbon credits for its members. The association plans to host an international conference on the rubber industry in HCMC in December.
