Under a document signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, Cam Lam, Nha Trang, Cam Ranh and Van Phong Economic Zone will shape a world-class urban area in Khanh Hoa, attracting global citizens.

International-standard centers for science and technology, medical care and education will be formed in Cam Lam.

A sustainable, ecological and smart urban area will also be established in Cam Lam, which is close to the Thuy Trieu lagoon ecosystem, Northern Cam Ranh Peninsula Tourist Area, and Nha Trang Bay - one of the most beautiful in the world voted by National Geographic Magazine.

Cam Lam is also expected to become a quality living environment and an economic, tourism and service hub of the country, assisting Khanh Hoa’s endeavor to become a centrally managed city by 2030. Vietnam now has only five centrally managed cities, namely Hanoi, Haiphong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho.

Cam Lam district covers nearly 55,000 hectares. Its population is projected to increase to 770,000 by 2045.

Last month, Vingroup, listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange as VIC, announced its desire to establish a “global intellectual connection center - a Silicon Valley” in Cam Lam over the next three years.

The center will gather experts who own patents and carry out in-depth studies, said CEO Nguyen Viet Quang.

Vingroup, Vietnam’s leading real estate developer, plans to build a mega urban area in Cam Lam from June 2023.

If approved by the prime minister, the project will take shape within two years, with prominent components being a global intelligenve center, medical and education centers, and high-end health care and resort facilities.

FPT Corporation, Vietnam’s leading IT company, is also proposing to develop three complex projects in Khanh Hoa that will include technology facilities, housing areas, resorts and services.
